Hire a Coach Series – Part 2 of 3

Go To PART 1PART 3

Executive coaching can be a powerful experience that leads to achievement and transformation, but it isn’t always the right solution.

It is also not always the right time to start coaching.

The process is both supportive and challenging, and it requires your focus and energy. Making sure that you are in the right frame of mind when entering into a coaching engagement will ensure that you maximize your growth, as well as the return on your investment of time and money.

5 Questions To Ask Yourself

Below are five questions that can help you decide if now is the right time for you to receive coaching:

Q1. Do I know what I want from coaching?

Your coach can help you to further define and refine your objectives, but you need to have an understanding of what you want to focus on (Here are some examples).

Q2. Am I committed to devoting the time, effort, and mental energy needed to meet my goals?

Be honest with yourself. Is now a good time for your to prioritize the time and energy that coaching requires? You want to set yourself up for success.

Q3. Am I willing to challenge the paradigms, beliefs, assumptions, behaviours and habits that may be limiting my success?

You can’t get different results by continuing to do the same thing. Coaching will shine a light on the thoughts and behaviours that don’t support the vision you have for yourself.

Q4. Am I ready to be held accountable to the objectives I set for myself?

Coaching creates accountability. Are you ready to take action?

Q5. Am I prepared to be open and honest with my coach, or tell them if I am unable to do so?

Coaching is a partnership that relies on trust and authentic communication for its success.

If you answered “YES”

If you answered “YES” to all five questions, then you are ready to move to the next step: finding the right coach for you.
